Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has announced that it will unveil the Honor 20 series at an event which will be held in London on May 21. The series is successor to Honor 10 consists of flagship Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. The media invite shared by the company has the date in an encoded format: 444+4x4x4+(4+4)/4+44/4. If you do the math, you’ll get the date as May 21. Notably, the first smartphone in the series is expected to be the Honor 20i, which has already been confirmed to launch in China on Wednesday, April 17.


The phones have been subjected to several leaks and rumours in the recent past, wherein most of the specs have been revealed. The Honor 20 is expected to be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC. Some of the other leaked specs include 6.1-inch OLED display with a waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor, 3,650mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging and Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI out of the box. In terms of optics, the phone is speculated to sport a triple rear camera set up consisting of 48MP primary sensor + a 20MP super-wide-angle secondary lens + an 8MP telephoto lens. For selfies, there could be a 32MP front-facing camera. In terms of memory, there may be three options- 6GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB inbuilt storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB inbuilt storage.

Whereas the Honor 20 Pro could sport a quad camera setup on the back with Sony IMX600 as the primary sensor. It is also expected to be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC. There will be three options in terms of RAM/Storage- 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB internal storage.

As mentioned earlier, the Honor 20i is set to launch tomorrow (April 17) and it is teased to 32-megapixel AI selfie camera and a waterdrop-shaped display notch. Some of its rumoured specifications include 6.2-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) display, HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, 4GB and 6GB RAM options, 64GB and 128GB internal storage options, and a 3,400mAh battery. It may launch globally as the Honor 20 Lite.

Additionally, the company is also reported to launch more devices under Honor 20 series, such as Honor 20A, Honor 20C and Honor 20X, but these announcements or launches may take place over the next few months
