HMD Global is prepping up for the launch of the updated Nokia 6. It would be called the Nokia 6 (2018). The launch is upon us, as the device has already undergone the certification process at China’s telecom regulatory TENAA.
As per the listing, the phone is seen sporting a bigger display with minimum bezels. Goes on to show that the phone is joining the 18:9 aspect ratio consortium.
The hardware buttons at the front seem to be replaced by the on-screen software keys. The fingerprint sensor will make its way to the rear of the device. The puny Snapdragon 430 SoC which powers the current Nokia 6 could be replaced by the Snapdragon 630 or 660. This should put it up against budget phones from Xiaomi, Huawei, and Lenovo in India.
The phone it is likely to inherit a metal unibody as the current version. Made of a precision-machined single block of aircraft grade series-6000 aluminium, this handset is meant to last.
On the photography front, nothing much is expected to change but the ‘Bothie’ feature seen on the erstwhile Nokia 8 could make an appearance. China will be the first market to get a taste of the updated Nokia 6 sometime in January.
