Google Pixel 3 vs iPhone XS vs Samsung Galaxy S9Earlier last week, Google launched its much-awaited Pixel 3 smartphone which was subjected to several leaks and rumours prior to the launch. Most of the speculated specs match with that of actual and the phone is truly a flagship worthy phone as anticipated. The third generation of Pixel also has the weight of Android Pie software. The Pixel 3 has features and specifications to take on the arch rival Apple‘s latest flagship iPhone XS (launched in September) and Samsung‘s Galaxy S9 (launched in March). Let us now compare the three phones on several software as well as hardware parameters along with the pricing in order to find out which one is a better buy.

The comparison will be based on below factors,

  • Design and Display
  • Processor, RAM and Storage

The controversial display notch (trend started by Apple) is retained by Apple in iPhons XS (probably to hide the sensor used for Face Unlock), while the same Samsung and Google have given it a skip. The iPhone also lacks the fingerprint sensor and relies only on its Face Unlock based on 3D technology. Whereas, both Pixel 3 and Galaxy S9 feature a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. The Galaxy S9 also features an Iris scanner as an added security measure. Notably, all three devices are IP68 certified for resistance against dust and water

In terms of display, the Pixel 3 sports a comparatively smaller 5.5-inch full-HD+ panel with 1080×2160 pixel resolution. The Galaxy S9 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ Curved Super AMOLED Infinity display with 2960×1440 pixel resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. While the iPhone XS also sports a similar 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display with 1125×2234 pixel screen resolution and features a same notch as the one seen on 2017’s iPhone X.

In terms of dimensions, the Pixel 3 measures 145.6×68.2×7.9 mm and weighs about 148 grams. The Galaxy S9 measures 147.7×68.7×8.5 mm and weighs in at 163 grams. While, the iPhone XS measures 143.6×70.9×7.7 mm and carries weight of around 177 grams.
