Google Nexus 8 and Android 4.5 reported to be launched in July
If rumours are to be believed then Google’s upcoming tablet Nexus 8 will be launched in July along with the new version of its Android OS. It is also reported that Google will stop making a 7-inch Nexus tablet due to increasing competition in the particular segment. Instead the company will focus more on the 8-inch segment which is comparatively less saturated with players like Samsung, Apple, LG etc. At present, the notable devices in the 8-inch segment are Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, Apple iPad Mini and LG G Pad 8.3.
In addition, as per the reports from a Taiwanese publication, Google will also launch the latest version of its operating system dubbed as Android 4.5 in July. The 4.5 might be one of the major updates to Android since the launch of its 4.1 Jelly Bean version. If the reports are true then the Nexus 8 will also be launched along with the latest version.
Recently, the search giant confirmed dates for its annual Google I/O developer conference which will take place by end of June (25-26 June). Apparently Apple also typically holds its WWDC developer event during the same period. The event takes place at San Francisco. This year Apple is expected to launch its new iOS software along with a new iPhone. However, unlike Apple, Google will not make any major announcements at its annual conference. Instead the Google conference will focus more on the services it plans to bring in the market for its users.
It will be interesting to see how the market responds to the growing no. of 8-inch devices. Stay tuned with us for further updates!
