Google and Lenovo have collaborated to launch the first Google Assistant-powered Smart Display. It has been named the Lenovo Smart Display. This launch enables Google to bring a display to the Google Assistant which users are already accustomed to.

The device was announced in CES 2018. The Smart Display is very similar to the Google Home in terms of functionality. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s new Home Hub Platform with a Snapdragon 624 SoC. The device also features WiFi and Bluetooth and comes with full-range 10-watt speaker for loud and clear audio.

As it is Google powered, the ability of the device to get things done is amazing. By saying “OK Google”, the users can set timers, get quick tidbits of information from the Knowledge Graph, listen to music, control your smart home devices. All this and much more can be done using an accompanying visual component. Due to the smart display, users can now play contents from YouTube, YouTube TV, HBO Now, Google Play Movies, and so on. The company, Google, offers a new subscription of three months of free access to You tube Premium with every Smart Display purchase.

The smart display device will target several users, especially the ones who are experimenting with or are working on various cuisines.

As for the prices and specifications, the Lenovo Smart Display will be available in two sizes. Its base will be an 8-inch HD version for $199.99. The larger version will be around 10-inches and Full-HD. It will be available for $249.99 which converts to over Rs. 17000.

The smart devices market is heating up with both JBL and LG announcing their own models earlier this year.
