Garmin has announced its first LTE-enabled smartwatch at CES 2019. Garmin, a leader in wearables, navigation devices and GPS sports watches has collaborated with the US-based telecom operator Verizon Wireless for the launch of this product.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 is very useful for users who work out outdoors or engage in outdoor sports but don’t prefer carrying their smartphone during such times. The LTE enabled wearable enables users to listen to music via Bluetooth headphones. The LTE variant of the product also enables users to make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages etc. The device can efficiently track all the workouts that the user engages in.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music has three variants — LTE (with music), Music (without LTE), and a standard one (without LTE or music). While they are confusing in terms of their functionality, a company launches smartwatch in terms of such features and variants are normally a combination of features.

Garmin’s Vivoactive 3 Music LTE variant is listed on the Garmin website. Its price is not yet known. The estimated availability date in the US is around five to eight weeks. Vivoactive 3 Music (without LTE) is currently available at Rs. 27,990 in India. The Vivoactive 3 (without music or LTE) comes with a price tag of Rs. 24,990.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music LTE enables users to store up to 500 songs if the company’s claims are to be believed. However, the company has yet not revealed how much storage the watch can offer. Garmin has not bundled Bluetooth headphones in the box. Users would have to buy a pair of Bluetooth enabled headphones separately.

The Vivoactive 3 Music LTE supports tracking workout sessions. The type of workouts it can track include running, swimming, strength training, and more. The watch also enables users to measure their VO2 max levels. As per the company, the device comes with a battery life of up to seven days in smartwatch mode, 13 hours on GPS mode, five hours on GPS with music.

As for its connectivity, the smartwatch can be paired with Android and iOS via a companion app. As far as the LTE features go, the Vivoactive Music 3 LTE supports LiveTrack. This means that users can let their friends and family track their location at certain times and ensure that their safety or the lack of it is conveyed promptly to their near and dear ones. Currently, there has been no official announcement on the price or availability of the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music LTE in India.
