People no longer simply take pictures using their Smartphones; they take “selfies”. The concept of the ‘front camera’ has brought with it a new mania of people clicking pictures using not the primary but the secondary camera. Noting the popularity of this very crazy yet fun trend, Asus launched its ZenFone Selfie (yes it’s literally called that!) at the Computex 2015 in Taipei, Taiwan. Promising to be a hit amongst everyone who loves technology and selfies, read to know more about what makes the ZenFone Selfie a true masterpiece.

Both the cameras are a whopping 13 MP and feature laser autofocus with dual- LED flash. The cameras are equipped with Toshiba sensors. The rear camera has F/2.0 aperture and a 28mm lens while the front one has F/2.2 aperture and 24mm wide-angle lens. Furthermore, the front camera has an 88 degree wide angle coverage which can be increased using the selfie- panorama mode! There is an optional swing attachment that helps to adjust the selfie angle and doubles up as a kickstand too. Now this is a feature we’d like to see in more of our Smartphones. The primary camera is capable of taking pictures of 4128 x 3096 pixels while the secondary camera is capable of full HD recording. The primary camera is has features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, and panorama.
Coming to the other notable features of the ZenFone Selfie… The 5.5” screen has a display resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The oleo phobic screen is great to keep the oily smudges away. It is a dual SIM Smartphone that will help the user to keep their personal and business work separate.
The phone will be available in 16/32 GB variants with 2/3 GB of RAM. For external storage, it has a microSD card slot that supports up to 64 GB of memory. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with Quad-core Cortex-A53 & Quad-core Cortex-A53 processors. The RAM and the processor are sure to give the user a fluid and smooth multi- tasking experience and app switching too, will be without any lags. It also comes with the Adreno 405 GPU that will make gaming a lively experience. The ZenFone Selfie will run on the latest Android Lollipop.

To make sure the phone doesn’t die out in the middle of the user taking an amusing selfie, the ZenFone Selfie has a powerful Li-Po 3000 mAh battery. It has multiple sensors such as accelerometer, gyro meter, proximity sensor, and compass. The phone will be launched in three colours: Pure White, Chic Pink, and Aqua Blue. The ASUS phone also offers 5GB free lifetime ASUS WebStorage for the user.
Although the price of the ZenFone Selfie has not been revealed, it can be speculated that it will be in the mid-range so as to appeal to the masses. The phone is expected to release sometime in Q3 so until then, users will have to continue taking selfies from their not-13MP-but-still-good-enough phones!
