The Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung is speculated to launch the Galaxy Tab Active 2. It will be a business-centric tablet with the much famed S Pen stylus. Being an Active variant, it will carry IP68 certification for water and dust resistance and will go against the Huawei’s recently launched Honor WaterPlay Tab which boasts of similar characteristics.
The news comes from a well-known tipster Roland Quandt. According to him, the tablet will come in two variants: Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 4G. These models are associated with the model numbers SM-T395 and SM-T390 respectively.
The tablet will sport an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1,280×800 pixels. The Galaxy Tab Active 2 would make use of an Exynos 7870 chipset, which is on par with the Snapdragon 625 found in the Honor WaterPlay tablet. Samsung offers 3GB of RAM.
As for optics, the Samsung device will likely feature an 8MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera. It will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. A 4,450 mAh battery. coupled with an energy efficient SoC built on the 14nm process is expected to give excellent battery backup to the device.
The Tab Active 2 will have a removable back cover and a user-replaceable battery. It will get a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button as per the user manual which surfaced recently. Samsung will also push its Bixby Home in this tablet with a dedicated button.
