Déjà Vu: The French Archos Omega Is A Rebranded Nubia Smartphoneby Ajinkya October 14, 2017
A few years back, Chinese brands used to copy designs from Europe and the US. The tables have clearly turned, as French company Archos is now lifting smartphones from ZTE’s Nubia line-up. Archos’s latest phone Diamond Omega is nothing more than a recently launched Nubia Z17S.
The phone features a 5.7-inch screen with Full HD+ resolution. The Diamond Omega is backed by the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC (System on Chip). It comes with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. However, there’s no microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Exactly like the Nubia Z17S, the Diamond Omega offers a dual-lens camera in 12 MP + 23 MP configuration. This enables 2X lossless zoom and bokeh effect. The optics come from the Japanese company Sony. There’s a dual-camera assembly on the front as well. This one is in 5 MP + 5 MP configuration.
The phone comes with 3100 mAh battery. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, it can be charged up to 50 percent in only 20 minutes. Archos claims that five minutes of charging will give you 5 hours of standby power. Quick Charge 3.0 also ensures that the device does not heat up during the charging process.
The Archos Diamond Omega runs Android 7.1 Nougat. It comes with the latest version of Nubia user interface. It is a neatly designed theme with a subdued colour scheme.
In Europe, the phone is set to cost 500 euros (approx Rs 38,000).
