[CompareRaja EXCLUSIVE] Apple iPhone XI (2019) Leaked in Renders: Features Horizontally Stacked Triple Camera Unit

by January 16, 2019

We all know that Apple is eager to bounce back after a mediocre 2018 in terms of sales. The Cupertino-based giant launched three models (iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR) in September 2018 and is expected to launch three devices again in September 2019. Today, team CompareRaja has access to exclusive leaked renders of one of the upcoming Apple iPhones tentatively referred to as the ‘iPhone XI’, thanks to our trusted partner Steve Hemmerstoffer.

We know that you’ll be confused regarding the earlier iPhone 2019 leak by Steve with square camera unit but let’s have a look at the renders first before we discuss the other details. Here we go!…

(NOTE- CompareRaja owns copyrights of the below renders. Do give us proper credit with a link to this blog post in case you wish to use/share these renders).

Based on the above renders, the iPhone XI (2019) could retain a similar front body as the current iPhone but will have a smaller notch and slightly thinner bezels (unnoticeable to naked eyes). The big difference could be on the back where you can see horizontally stacked triple rear camera module placed at the center. The camera unit comprises of three sensors + a circle flash around the center camera lens + mic below the center camera. The rear of the device also flaunts Apple’s logo. The volume rocker is placed on the left along with ring/silent switch, whereas the power button is situated on the right. The phone could feature usual lightning port at the bottom.

Now, regarding the confusion about two different leaks…

Both the leaks are 100% legit prototypes. As per Steve, we are very early in the production process and the three 2019 iPhones are still in EVT stage (Engineering Validation Test) which means nothing is set in the stone yet. So, we have two cases here,

Case 1: Both the leaked prototypes will be retained and be marketed as two different models (say iPhone XIS and XIS max).

Case 2: One of the leaked prototypes will be axed and the other will be retained.

As mentioned earlier, Apple plans to launch three iPhones in September 2019. The lower variant will possibly be iPhone XR’s successor, while the other two high-end variants will be successors to the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max.

Although it is a good idea to include a triple camera set up, it will come with an added cost. Which also means that the iPhone XI (2019) could be more expensive than the launch price of iPhone 2018. Also, the placement of camera is very crucial as it may result into a design which may not be embraced by all. Notably, the earlier leaked iPhone XI renders with square camera unit on the back did not get a good response in terms of design.

Here’s a Quick Roundup of iPhone 2019 Leaks/Rumors:

Apple will surely go out of its way to make the upcoming iPhones much special and better than ever before.

  • Based on the Reuters report, Apple’s next-generation iPhones could be the first to ship with a 5G modem, according to a report by Reuters, while some claim that the iPhone wouldn’t be getting it until 2020.
  • As per some of the other reports, Apple will release two OLED models and one LCD-equipped handset in 2019. Which obviously means the LCD-equipped handset will be successor to iPhone XR. Interestingly, iPhone XR did not get a good response so it was being speculated that Apple could drop the LCD panel completely from its 2019 models.
  • A report at Macotakara claims that Apple may ditch the proprietary Lightning connection and switch to USB-C for the iPhones of 2019.
  • Based on the Barclays’ tip-off, the iPhone 2019 may get an enhanced flood illuminator to brighten the illumination which will make the dot projector become faster as well as more accurate.
  • It is also being said that Apple is working on incorporating long distance Time of Flight (ToF) technology which will enable the upcoming iPhones to create detailed 3D maps of anything within five metres.

Apple has already reduced forecast of its iPhone sales for the upcoming quarter after it recorded lower sales in 2018. So, it will be interesting to see Apple’s strategy in 2019 to win back the lost market share and if the above changes are enough for the task at hand. The company has done it in the past and we hope it does the same again.
