While last year, brands mostly pushed for features such as curved screen and 3D. This time around, companies will be rooting for HDR (High Dynamic Range) and high-resolution panels. The highlight of the show will be a standoff between OLED and Quantum Dot LCD panels. With the superior OLED tech, LG has already blown existing LCD technology out of the water. This year, using the Quantum Dot screens Samsung and Sony will try to compete with OLED panels. For those not in the know, LCD screens require LED backlight. Therefore, these panels cannot produce true blacks and are prone to backlight bleeding. On the other hand, in OLED tech, every pixel has its own luminance, which results in true blacks and excellent contrast.

A few brands may unveil screens up to 98-inch. To keep up with the size, more manufacturers will be moving to 8K resolution.
