Canon has added EOS-1D X Mark III in its flagship lineup EOS-1D X. Mark III is the updated variant of 2016’s EOS-1D X Mark II. This Japanese camera-maker has launched the Mark III in the Indian market recently. This DSLR camera is built for professional photographers who are into sports, action, and wildlife. The camera comes with multiple upgrades over the Mark II, and let’s understand it better by diving into the technical specifications.

Canon EOS-1D X Mark III: Key specs and features

The camera sensor is the same 20.1MP which was on Mark II. There is an addition of High Detail Low-Pass sensor that will help in capturing more detailed pictures. The Dual-Pixel AF system provides 191 AF points among which 155 are of cross-type points. There are 3,869 selectable focus points and 525 are the automatic ones. There is also a live view mode where the camera will support the automatic detection of the head, face, and eyes.


The DSLR is powered by the latest DIGIC X processor. You will also get better low-light performance as the ISO range will be 100 to 102,400 where you will also be able to expand it to 50 to 819,200. According to Canon, Mark III is the fastest camera available in the market right now. The live view mode can shoot up to 20FPS whereas the optical viewfinder will be able to shoot at 16FPS. For static pictures, you can capture and save the picture in HEIF format that will feature 10-bit color and wide range. On the video front, the camera can shoot up to 5.5K and 4K at 60fps.


The camera body of EOS-1D X Mark III is dust and moisture resistant and is constructed of all-metal magnesium alloy. The camera is on a bit heavier side at 1.44 kgs. With a 3.2-inch display panel, the camera is powered by an LP-E19 RC battery. On a full charge, it can take up to 2,850 shots.


The camera is equipped with all the connectivity features such as WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Ethernet port. You will also get 2 USB 3.2 port and one USB-C port. The media will be stored on the CF Express memory card.

Pricing and availability

The camera will be available from mid-February and a 512 GB CF express card will be included in the box. Canon EOS-1D X Mark III will be priced at ₹5,75,995.
