After successfully launching the Key2 in India, Blackberry has now launched two new smartphones dubbed as BlackBerry Evolve and BlackBerry Evolve X. The launch event was held at capital city Delhi today. The phones will be brought in India by Optiemus Infracom, just like the Key2. Both Evolve and Evolve X were doing the rounds of the internet for quite some time now under their codenames Ghost and the Ghost Pro. Interestingly, both the phones are launched in India first before any other market unlike the previous BlackBerry devices that were first launched in the West and then brought to Indian market.

BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X Pricing and Availability in India:

The Evolve comes with a price tag of Rs. 24,990, while the Evolve X is more premium of the two phones which is priced at Rs. 34,990. Both the phones will be sold exclusively via eCommerce giant Amazon.in. The Evolve will start selling by end of this month i.e. August and the Evolve X will go on sale next month i.e. September. As part of the launch offer, the company is offering Reliance Jio cashback offer of Rs. 3,950 and 5 percent instant cashback with ICICI bank credit card used for EMI transactions. Both the phones will also be made available in offline stores after a while.

BlackBerry Evolve Specifications:

The Evolve 2 sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ IPS LCD display with screen resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and aspect ratio of 18:9. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC along with an Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The internal storage capacity of the device is capped at 64GB with an option to expand via microSD card.

In terms of optics, you’ll find a dual camera set up on the rear with a combination of 13-megapixel sensors having f/2.0 aperture, RGB+Mono mode, and dual tone LED flash. The front hosts a 16-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. All of this is backed by a 4,000mAh battery.

BlackBerry Evolve X Specifications:

The Evolve X is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC along with an Adreno 512 GPU and 6GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity of the phone is 64GB which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. It features same screen as that of Evolve i.e. 5.99-inch full-HD+ FullView LTPS IPS LCD display.

In the camera department, there’s a dual rear camera set up comprising of 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.6 aperture. The rear camera set up also has dual tone LED flash support. The front features 16-megapixel fixed focus selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera supports Tetra Pixel technology, real-time bokeh mode and LED flash. The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS out of the box and is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery with support for wireless charging.

For security purpose, both Evolve as well as Evolve X feature rear mounted fingerprint sensor which can unlock the phone in 0.3 seconds as claimed by the company. In addition, there is Face Unlock feature which can unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds. Connectivity options included in the phones are Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, FM radio, USB Type-C with OTG, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
