Xiaomi has finally launched the Black Shark gaming smartphone in the Indian market with its latest edition – the Black Shark 2 with prices starting at Rs. 39,999. The gaming phones packs in a set of interesting features including a Snapdragon 855 chip, liquid cooling, and 3D Touch display among others. The Black Shark 2 will be available for sale exclusively on Flipkart from the 4th of June onwards.

The Black Shark 2 is the third in the series succeeding the Black Shark and the Black Shark Helo. The Black Shark Helo was not launched in India. The Black Shark 2 will face stiff competition from the gaming smartphones such as the Asus’ ROG Phone and Nubia’s Red Magic series. To create a level playing field, the Black Shark has also introduced some add-on accessories like the Asus ROG Phone. However, the accessories that will accompany the Black Shark 2 is not being launched in India.

Black Shark 2 specifications

The Black Shark 2 is the second phone in India to come with the Snapdragon 855 chipset. The only other phone which can boast of this configuration is the OnePlus 7 Pro. This smartphone’s Snapdragon 855 chipset is complemented by up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Like most gaming phones, the Black Shark 2 also uses a vapour cooling chamber to keep the internal temperatures under control. As for its design, the Black Shark 2 has a very rugged design which is typical of most gaming smartphones. The smartphone is also equipped with RGB strips towards it edges. The smartphone also comes with a redesigned antenna setup to augment network performance while the user plays multiplayer games.

The Black Shark 2 packs in a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. It supports HDR+ colours. The screen does not come with a notch. The smartphone has a touch-sensitive display which is like the 3D Touch on flagship Apple iPhones. The screen offers an extremely fast response time.

The Black Shark 2 runs on Joy UI which is based on Android 9 Pie. The Black Shark has added some gamer-centric enhancements to the smartphone which include the Shark Space. This acts as a dedicated gaming launcher. It boosts the performance while gaming and offers other gaming controls in hand. A pair of stereo speakers accompanies the smartphone. The Black Shark 2 packs in a triple microphone setup to suppress noise and improve audio recording. The smartphone is powered by a massive 4000mAh battery bundled with 27W fast charging.

As for its cameras, the rear camera setup is a combination of a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto secondary camera with 2X optical zoom. The front camera comes with a 20-megapixel unit. The Black Shark offers a set of detachable controllers that are sold separately. However, these controllers won’t be sold in the Indian market.

Black Shark 2 pricing and availability:

The Black Shark 2 is priced at Rs 39,999 for the base variant which comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s another variant that packs in 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. This smartphone will retail at Rs 49,999.
