ASUS TUF FX505DY and FX705DY Gaming Laptops With AMD Ryzen 5 Launched

Asus has launched two new gaming laptops in its TUF Gaming series – the TUF Gaming FX505DY and TUF Gaming FX705DY. The laptops will be powered by AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor. They will feature AMD’s discrete Radeon RX 560X GPU as well as the CPU’s integrated Radeon Vega 8 graphics capabilities.

Asus had announced the laptops at the CES 2019 in January this year. The TUF Gaming FX505DY with a 15.6-inch display screen will be available exclusively on Amazon in India. It will come in two variants with a price tag starting at Rs. 59,990. The larger variant will sport a display screen of 17.3-inches.

The TUF Gaming FX705DY will be available for sale both online and offline. The price point for the gaming laptop has been fixed at Rs. 69,990. These models will add to the existing portfolio of TUF Gaming FX505 and FX705 models which are powered by Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs.

Both the laptops will feature slim ‘NanoEdge’ screen borders and reinforced bodies. This will enable the laptops to meet the MIL-STD-810G specification for durability. As per Asus, the laptops have been tested for strenuous and extreme environments and can withstand such rough and tough conditions. Both the variants of the laptops are certified to survive vibrations, accidents and falls from a few feet. The smaller FX505DY variant is certified to survive falls from a height. Asus has not given the exact height up to which the laptop is equipped with withstand the impact of a fall.

The new TUF Gaming series laptops are equipped with a custom-designed thermal solution with independent fans for the CPU as well as the GPU. This feature is to prevent accumulation of dust in the laptops. Asus has also equipped the laptops with LED-backlit keyboards with full numeric keypads, highlighted WASD keys, thicker space bars, and full-sized arrow keys. Both the variants of the gaming laptop models will be available in two colour options namely Red Matter with red backlighting and trims, and Gold Steel, which will feature RGB LEDs.

As for the processor of the laptops, it is powered by the new AMD Ryzen 5 3350H processor. It is a 35W model with four cores and multi-threading and is part of AMD’s second-gen ‘Picasso’ platform. The processors use Zen+ CPU architecture with an integrated Radeon Vega 8 GPU. It is clocked at 2.1GHz and sports a boost speed of up to 3.7GHz.

As for its memory, the new TUF Gaming FX505DY and FX705DY laptops are listed online with 8GB of RAM. As per Asus though, the laptops can work seamlessly with up to 32GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smaller FX505DY will offer 1TB SSHD and an optional 128GB SSD, while the FX705DY is only listed with a 1TB SSHD. The two laptops feature 48Whr and 64Whr Li-ion batteries. They weigh 2.2Kg and 2.7Kg respectively.

Both the laptops pack in full-HD resolutions for their screens, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, and DHS:Headphone X audio enhancement. They also have similar connectivity options in terms of ports including two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI 2.0 output, one Ethernet port, and one 3.5 mm combo audio jack.
