Asus has always been a company which thrives in innovation. Every now and then it comes with concept devices which baffle users with their capabilities. Netbooks, for example, were their creation. Asus Transformer AiO is another such example. AiO means All-in-one computer. An AiO is usually a combination of two devices– a fully functional desktop PC and a tablet. However, Asus Transformer AiO, is a combination of three types of devices.

Asus Transformer AiOThe triple threat device:
Transformer AiO is a Windows 8 PC, a Windows 8 remote desktop device and an Android tablet! The first thing you would notice is the 18.4 inch full HD touchscreen display, with a resolution of 1920-by-1080 pixels. It uses IPS technology, which gives awesome viewing angles. The screen is detachable and when you remove it from the docking station, it switches to being a full-fledged Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean tablet. The surprise doesn’t end here. Using the Splashtop app, you can actually stream the graphics from the docking station, and use it as a Windows 8 remote desktop!

What the device is meant to do?
The philosophy of the Asus Transformer AiO has been to allow you to use the device for all the purposes in office and home. So, you can do all the usual things you do with a desktop, and then perhaps detach it and use it to read books, play videogames, or even watch a movie while in bed. The 18.4 inch tablet size is big. It doesn’t feel very natural to either hold the tablet or to put it on your laps and use. There is, however a back stand, which allows you to keep it like a picture frame and use it– pretty much life the Surface tablets.

Either on PC or tablet, the device has powerful hardware. The PC unit comes with an Intel Core i5 processor with a clock speed of 3.1 GHz, 6 GB of RAM and 1 TB of 7200 rpm HDD. Those specs are certainly not compromised. The tablet comes with a native resolution of 1920-by-1080, and is powered by NVidia Tegra 3 processor. It functions very smoothly. However, while being used as a tablet, it gives a battery life of about 2 hours. But, it comes with a power adapter, and with a size like that, it is certainly not going to be used on the move.

Should you buy it?
It is a very interesting device, and at the same time, a very ambitious one. After you get used to it, the impact on your productivity can be very positive. this Asus product will be an awesome addition to your home, since it can used by all the members of the family. The tablet can be primarily used as a media consumption device, and for web browsing too. The remote desktop mode, practically allows you to take your Windows 8 desktop, anywhere in the house. For the money that you pay, you get a lot more than expected.
