Apple’s New Baby – The iPad Mini

by October 25, 2012 0 comments

After being targeted with innumerable speculations, rumours and criticism, the Apple iPad Mini is finally out for grabs. However, you will have to wait until the gadget makes its entry into the Indian market.  Many predict the iPad Mini to be a perfect boon for those who prefer reading text on a digital screen. But, this smaller form factor seems to be a lot more than that. The aluminum clad gizmo is a shrunken version of the iPad which closely resembles the latest iPod touch.

The iPad Mini flaunts a decent 7.9 inch LCD screen offering a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The bottom-mounted speakers, the volume rocker and the mute switch are all borrowed from the traditional iPad. However, the rest of the exteriors, though not the same, seem to be quite familiar. Unfortunately, the iPad Mini lacks a wireless charging and a USB 3.0 support.

Loaded with an advanced operating system, the iOS 6, the tablet is available in two models – one with Wi-Fi and the other with Wi-Fi + Cellular. They both share the same dimensions. However, the former weighs 308g while the latter weighs around 312g.  Well, that doesn’t make any different, does it?

Talking about the storage, you can choose between 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models. The iPad Mini comes with a built-in 16.3-watt-hour lithium-polymer rechargeable battery offering a backup of up to 10 hours which seems to be quite good. Some of the other features available include VoiceOver screen reader, guided access, full-screen zoom magnification, options to invert colours, left/right volume adjustment and many more.

Some of the built in apps are Safari, App Store, iTunes, Maps, Newsstand, Game Center, Photo Booth and many more.  Apple provides a neat package of iPad Mini, lightening to USB cable and USB power adapter.

In terms of looks, the Mini is not quite far from the conventional iPad. However, you will obviously be carrying along something that’s around 300 g lighter. Talking about the price, the Mini is currently available for $329 in the international market. So, you can expect the price to be somewhere between Rs. 16000 to Rs. 20000.

Once the product is out, the online retailers in India will be busy battling it out with each others to offer you the best price. However, comparing prices online may not always be easy. This is when you need to log on to compareraja.in, the most preferred online price comparison portal in India. The website allows you to compare the deals offered by the top merchants in the country. Just locate your product and you will be left with a list of merchants offering the best deals on the same. No wonder, your brand new iPad Mini is now just a few clicks away.
