
Apple Revealed The iPad Air 4th-gen Along With iPad 8th-gen To The Indian Market
The trillion-dollar company, Apple, had launched the 2019 iPad Air in March last year. Later that year, the 7th-gen iPad was launched in September. In an online event organized by Apple yesterday, the company launched multiple devices, including last year’s iPad & iPad Air successors. Apple also introduced Watch Series 6 and an affordable Apple Watch SE.
The latest iPad lineup addition will sport a bigger display and increased battery size, whereas iPad Air 2020 will be available in 2 more color variants. It will also be the first device that is constructed on a 5nm structure. The new iPad lineup will be equipped with stereo speakers and an updated TouchID.
iPad 8th-gen: Key features & specs
The latest iPad draws its power from a very capable A12 Bionic chip, which Apple claims to provide 40% better CPU and 2x improvement in GPU operation. The screen size of the iPad 8th-gen will be 10.2” LED Retina display, where the screen resolution will be 2160×1620 pixels. The device will also be rigged with a Neural Engine that will significantly enhance the AR capabilities, faster photo editing, and all other machine learning operations.
On the OS front, the iPad 8th-gen will run on iPadOS 14, where users will also get 1st-gen Apple pencil support. It will allow you to draw and take notes in a much easier way. The iPad will also be compatible with Apple’s Smart Keyboard. The company also promises the iPad to last a whole day.
Apple has not made any significant improvements in terms of optics. The rear will house an 8 MP f/2.4 primary sensor where it will offer features like HDR, auto-stabilization, live photo, 1080p30 recording, slow-mo recording on 720p at 120fps. On the front, the top bezel will come with a 1.2 MP selfie snapper with f/2.4 aperture. It will support up to 720p recording. The bottom bezel will offer you the most reliable & secure biometric feature, TouchID.
The new iPad will come with dual mics, dual-SIM (nano & e-SIM), LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi 5, stereo speakers, etc. Apple is still stuck at the lightning connector for this iPad.
iPad Air 4th-gen: Key features & specs
This iPad variant is quite a specs bump over the iPad 8th-gen. iPad Air 4th-gen will come with a bigger 10.9” Liquid Retina display, and the resolution will be 2360×1640 pixels. The LED-backlit technology used by Apple provides crisp colors with deep blacks. The panel will be equipped with anti-reflective coating, P3 color-gamut, 2nd-gen Apple pencil support, full lamination, and an integrated TouchID in the power button on the top edge of the device.
iPad Air will be powered by Apple’s latest & highly capable A14 Bionic chipset on a 5nm structure. The chipset’s 6-core CPU will provide a whopping 40% performance boost along with a 30% better GPU. iPad Air also has the 16-core Neural Engine, and it is capable of executing 11 million actions per second. Unlike the iPad 8th-gen, Apple is providing you the type-C support for faster charging and data transfers. Apple claims to provide a full-day battery life here as well.
The optics are also improved here, and the front camera is 7 MP f/2.0 sensor. It will also support 1080p60 recording. On the rear, the users will get a 12 MP f/1.8 camera that will record videos at the highest resolution of 4K 60 fps and 1080p 240 fps slow-mo recording. Both front and rear cameras will be equipped with burst mode, smart HDR, auto stabilization, etc.
Additional features will include stereo speakers, dual mics, Bluetooth 5.0, dual SIM (nano & e-SIM), Type-C USB, and Magic Keyboard support.
Pricing and availability
The iPad 8th-gen will be available in 3 color variants, Silver, Space Gray, and Gold. The base variant will be the WiFi-only variant, priced at ₹29,000, whereas the cellular+WiFi variant will be available at ₹41,900. The tablet will come in 2 storage options, 32 GB & 128 GB. The iPad Air 4th-gen will come in more color options such as Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Sky Blue, and Green. The tablet will be available in 64 GB and 256 GB storage options. The WiFi-only base variant will be priced at ₹54,900, whereas the WiFi+Cellular iPad Air will start at ₹66,900.
The devices will soon be available to all the authorized resellers, and the sales will begin from next month.
