
Apple Launched A New iPad Pro Series, Will Come With Trackpad Support And Prices Start At ₹71,900
It came as a surprise when Apple launched two new products, the iPad Pro series, and MacBook Air. The new iPads will be a successor to the previous year’s Pro 11 and Pro 12.9, and it will be launched in two screen sizes. These new additions come with significantly improved display, chipset, and cameras. The USP of these iPad Pro models will support the LiDAR sensor and it will be integrated into the camera module. This feature makes this iPad Pro series the best tool for AR and depth-sensing projects. There will also be a Magic Keyboard coming this May, and it will sport a trackpad and scissor-style keyboard with 1 mm key travel.
iPad Pro 2020: Key specs and features
The new series of iPads will come in two screen sizes, 11” and 12.9”. The features will include a Liquid Retina display, P3 Wide Color support, and ProMotion tech that will adjust the screen according to the content up to 120 Hz refresh rate. The new iPads will also support trackpad and the feature will come through iPadOS 13.4. There will also be an iPad keyboard cover coming this May in order to support the trackpad feature. The Magic Keyboard will feature a backlit keyboard, USB Type-C charging, floating design, and smooth adjustments. The keyboard will not be included in the box and users will have to buy it separately.
The company also announced that the trackpad feature will be available to all the iPad Pros, iPad Air 2, iPad 5th gen, iPad Mini 4, and above. The update will start rolling out from March 24. The feature will be compatible with Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, and Magic Keyboard after installing the iPadOS 13.4.
Coming to the chipset, the iPad Pro models will be powered by A12Z Bionic octa-core chip paired with an 8-core GPU. Apple also claimed the performance to be significantly better than any Windows PC while doing heavy tasks such as rendering 4K video, 3D modeling, etc. Just like the previous years, Apple didn’t reveal the RAM configuration but there will be 4 internal storage options, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Though the camera module looks absolutely the same as iPhone 11 Pro, there are some very significant differences. The camera will house a 12MP wide-angle lens, 10MP ultra-wide, and the third sensor will be the LiDAR sensor. This sensor will support object measuring up to the distance of 5 meters, the algorithms are highly enhanced for better depth-sensing and Augmented Reality performance. The camera will also provide much better portrait mode.
The new iPad Pros will be available in WiFi-only and WiFi+Cellular variants. However, the cellular variant will only support up to 4G LTE. The company hasn’t revealed the battery capacity but inured that the iPad Pro will give users 10 hours of video playback on WiFi and 9 hours on cellular.
Pricing and availability
The new iPad series is on sale in the States, however, there are no announcements for the availability in the Indian market. The 11” variant will be priced at ₹71,900 for WiFi-only and ₹85,900 for the WiFi model. The 12.9” variant will be priced at ₹89,900 and ₹1,03,900 for WiFi and cellular variants, respectively. Both the variants will be available in two color options, Silver and Space Grey. Coming to the keyboard add-on, it will be available at a whopping ₹27,900 for the 11-inch model, and ₹31,900 for 12.9-inch one. The keyboard will be available to buy from May 2020. Along with the Magic Keyboard, Apple also launched Smart Keyboard Folio which will be available for the new iPad Pro series, the pricing will be ₹7,500 and ₹9,900 for the 11” and 12.9” models, respectively.
