Rumours were making round for long about the 8GB variant of Apple iPhone 5C smartphone and now the much awaited variant is officially here! The company has launched Apple iPhone 5C 16 GB and Apple iPhone 5C 32GB in several European countries. The 8GB variant will be available in five countries- UK, US, Australia, France, Germany and China. There is no clarity about it’s availability in other countries. The new model first appeared on UK carrier O2’s site with a price tag of £429 and is also listed on company’s website in UK for £429.
There are no other changes in terms of features, except for the drop in storage capacity. Key features of Apple iPhone 5C are:
- 4-inch Retina IPS LCD display (640×1136 pixels)
- 8MP rear camera with LED flash
- Apple A6 chipset
- 1.2MP front-facing camera
- Colour variants- Green, Blue, White, Pink and Yellow
The 5C sports a hard-coated polycarbonate body which makes it a bit heavier than iPhone 5. The phone was launched globally in September last year along with 5S. However both the devices were launched in India in November with a price tag of Rs. 42,000 and Rs. 53,500 respectively.
The move of introducing a low memory variant is intended to boost sales of the device. The company recently started selling back 8GB variant of its popular iPhone 4 in India to capture the market share.
