Android One Users in India Soon to Receive the Lollipop Update

by February 16, 2015

Launched last year by Google, the Android One series is all set to get the Android 5.0 update in India. The news broke in a few days ago when a Google spokesperson said that the update will be rolled out to all 3 Android One Devices – Karbonn Sparkle V, Spice Dream Uno and Micromax Canvas A1.

Earlier Google promised that the Android One will receive an instant software update, but in fact failed to keep the same. This time, however, it seems like the promise is all set to be fulfilled. Google has openly spoken about the delay caused in releasing the update to all the A1 devices and has ensured the users that the update will be made available to them in a few weeks.

Presently, Nexus and Motorola handsets are the only ones enjoying the taste of the new Android 5.0 Lollipop. The search giant had decided to sell its Android One handsets exclusively at online stores. The decision didn’t quite go well with Micromax, Karbonn and Spice who found it hard to get the most out of the ‘Android One’ Initiative.

Recently, Google took its Android One handsets to Indonesia launching the 3 handsets with Android 5.1 Lollipop preloaded in them. This point out to the fact that the search giant might consider rolling out the 5.2 updated instead of the 5.1 to the Indian audiences as well. But, again, this is just an assumption, which may or may not turn into a reality. Indian audiences have to keep their patience until the actual release.

Below are the specifications of the 3 Android One Devices set to receive the Android Lollipop update:

In terms of specifications, the 3 seem to be completely identical. In terms of design of the handsets all the Android One offerings are different from each other. The Spice Dream Uno is available at the best price of Rs. 5,659/-. Priced on the similar line is Micromax Canvas A1 that comes with a price tag of Rs. 5449/-. However, if you are looking out for something cheaper than that, the Karbonn Sparkle V turns out to be a good deal at just Rs. 4790/-.

While Google is all ready with its sleeves folded up high, there is no official word yet on the exact date of the availability of the update. But, one thing is for sure. With all that buzz lighting up the online tech news arena, you can surely expect the update coming your way pretty soon.
