Xiaomi-backed wearable tech brand Huami created a disruption of sorts in the Indian fitness tracker market when it launched the first version of Amazfit Verge. The smartwatch which was launched at Rs. 11,999 in India offered an all-day heart rate monitoring, integrated GPS, and IP68 certification for water- and dust-resistance. Huami has now launched the second generation of the Amazfit Verge in China. The smartwatch packs in a circular 1.3-inch dial. It offers VoLTE support, ceramic body and much more. The brand has also announced an ECG and an Avengers Limited Edition of the watch.

Amazfit Verge 2 specifications and features

The Amazfit Verge 2 will pack in a circular design but will come equipped with Microcrystalline Zirconium Ceramic frame with silicon straps. As per Huami, the ceramic body of the latest wearable has undergone precision processing comprising 24 complex processes to make it sturdy. The display screen on the smartwatch measures 1.39-inches. It comes with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. As per the company, the display is retina grade. The screen safeguards itself from fall, shock etc. as it is protected by a layer of 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The smartwatch boasts of an IP68 rating too which protects it against dust and water to a certain extent.

The Amazfit Verge 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 SoC ticking at its core. The processor is also complemented by 512MB RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. The Amazfit Verge 2 runs Amazfit OS with support for Android 4.4 or iOS 10 and above. The Verge 2 is powered by a 420mAh battery which can last up to 28 hours on 4G. As for connectivity, the smartwatch supports network connectivity and VoLTE calling through eSIM.


The Verge 2 is capable of tracking 10 sports activities including running, walking, indoor running, indoor riding, elliptical, mountaineering, outdoor riding, football, skipping, and trail running. The smartwatch comes with an inbuilt GPS module as well. The ECG edition of Amazfit Verge 2 has also been launched. The fitness tracker can thus show 60 minutes of ECG data locally for up to 7 days. Another highlight of the Amazfit Verge 2 is narrowband network technology (NB-IoT) which is an advancement over Bluetooth. The smartwatch, due to this technology, does not depend on Bluetooth to connect to the smartphone.

The smartwatch is also equipped with features such as low heart rate indicator, atrial fibrillation, fall detection, keyless entry and keyless start functions on cars manufactured by Xiaopeng Automobile, Alipay offline payment support, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2+BLE, and Wi-Fi. Huami has also partnered with Tencent to bring features like music streaming, live translation and QQ chat of the company to the smartwatch via future software updates.

The Amazfit Verge 2 standard edition is already open for pre-order in China whereas the ECG edition and Avengers limited edition with custom band and theme will be available for sale from July onwards. The regular Amazfit Verge 2 will come with a price tag of RMB 999 which roughly converts to RS 10,000 and the ECG Edition will retail at a price of RMB 1,299, which approximately converts to Rs 13,000. Huami has announced that it will manufacture only 5,000 units of Avengers Edition. The same will retail at a price of RMB 1,499, which converts to around Rs 15,000.
