Airtel Launches 4G VoLTE Smartphone At An Effective Price Of Rs 1399by Ajinkya October 12, 2017
Joining hands with domestic phone-maker Karbonn, Airtel has launched a cheap 4G VoLTE smartphone in India. Undercutting Jio’s 4G-enabled feature phone, the effective price of Airtel’s handset is Rs 1399.
The phone is essentially a Karbonn A40, which was launched back in July for around Rs 3,500. To avail this offer, users will have to pay Rs 2,899 upfront for the handset. Much like the Jio offer, Airtel will payback Rs 1500 after the end of the contract that stretches three years. Effectively bringing down the price down to Rs 1399.
Airtel also requires you to recharge the phone for Rs 169 every month to keep the service active. This includes unlimited calling and 500 MB of daily 4G data.
The plan costs more than the competing JioPhone scheme, but Airtel is offering a smartphone as opposed to Reliance’s feature phone. It features a 4-inch touchscreen with 800 x 480 display resolution. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage.
The phone ships with Android Nougat. And unlike JioPhone, Airtel’s phone gives you access to millions of Android apps.
