Acer has announced the launch of its new notebook – the Acer Swift 5. The company claims that it is the “world’s lightest 15-inch notebook”. This announcement comes very close to IFA 2018.

The Swift 5 (SF515-51T) notebook with 15-inch display weighs 990 grams. The top and bottom covers of the notebook sports a magnesium-lithium alloy body. It gives the notebook a thinner yet stronger design. The company claims that the design and the material is to ensure that durability of the notebook when subject to twisting or bending. The slim chassis measures 15.9 mm or around 0.63 inches so you can imagine how sleek the device would be.

The Acer Swift 5 with 15-inch display (SF515-51T) will be available for sale in China and EMEA region from November onwards. The notebook will be priced in China at RMB 7,499 which converts to around Rs 77,500. However, in the EMEA region, it will be available at a starting price of EUR 1,099 which converts to around Rs. 90,500. The Acer Swift 5 can be purchased in North America from January 2019 at a starting price of $1,099 which translates to around Rs. 77,700.

The Acer Swift 5 sports a 15.6-inch full HD display. The screen comes with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and is an IPS touchscreen with ultra-narrow bezels. The notebook comes with a screen-to-body ratio of 87.6 percent. The notebook’s wide viewing display also packs in Acer’s BluelightShield technology. This reduces blue-light emission and enables users to have a seamless experience while working on the notebook at night. Acer’s Color Intelligence technology dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation in real-time to automatically enable optimum screen-color and brightness.

The Swift 5 notebook sports an LED backlit keyboard. It comes with a fingerprint reader that supports Windows Hello for faster and secure login. The notebook comes with Intel’s latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8565U and Core i5-8265U processors. The notebook is powered by RAM options of up to 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM. The in-built storage offered by the notebook is up to a 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD.

Acer has also incorporated TrueHarmony technology along with Swift 5 notebook. This technology optimizes Dolby Audio to deliver high-quality sound through the inbuilt dual stereo speakers. As for its connectivity, the notebook seamlessly connects Wi-Fi with 2×2 802.11ac wireless Gigabit performance, a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen-2 port for up to 10 Gbps data transfers and two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, and one regular HDMI port.
