The California based tech mogul Apple has introduced a few hardware products in an online-only event. Among all the announcements, the focus and highlight is on M1-powered redesigned iMac and iPad Pro featuring mini-LED display panel. In the event, Apple also introduced an iPhone 12 in Purple color, 4K Apple TV Streaming box, an updated remote, and a podcast subscription utility. Here are the major announcements for you if you have missed the event.

Podcast Subscription

Apple is always trying to bump up its revenue figures. In another masterstroke attempt, the brand launched a paid podcast subscription service. The service will be live for everyone around 170 countries starting next month. The pricing isn’t determined by Apple as it will be up to the creators and will follow a monthly billing format. However, creators will have the option to also give users an annual package. The Podcast app is also going through a design overhaul.

iPhone 12: Purple color edition

The two variants of the brand’s iPhone 12 lineup will be available in purple color. These variants will be standard iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini. The smartphones will go on sale on April 30 and the pre-order window will open on April 23. There is absolutely no change in the internals or design. The pricing will start at ₹79,990 for iPhone 12 and ₹69,990 for iPhone 12 Mini.

AirTag was long anticipated by Apple and the brand has finally introduced it to the public. It’s an accessory that will go with an iPhone. The device looks like a Tile and functions through Apple’s Find My Network app. The tracking is done using a network of iPhones in real time. Apple has implemented this tech to easily find your lost item in no time. The device will be available at a retail price of ₹3,190 and ₹10,990 for the pack of 4 AirTags. The device will hit the stores on April 30. Along with regular AirTags, there will also be a Hermes edition of AirTag and its sleeve.

Apple TV 4K and Remote

The tech giant Apple has finally given an update to its TV Streaming Box. Apple has now equipped it with a high-end A12 Bionic chip and the remote is also updated. It will now sport physical buttons and come in an aluminum body. The trackpad on the remote will now also have clickable D-pad keys. The remote will go on sale in May and it will also be fully compatible with older Apple TV Streaming Box. The updated 4K TV Streaming Box will be available at a retail price of ₹18,990 having 32 gigs of onboard storage. The pre-order window will open April 30 and the shipment will start in the second half of May. The update remote can separately be bought for ₹5,800.

Apple iMac: Multiple color options

This will be the first time when an iMac computer from Apple will be rolling out using the brand’s own M1 SoC instead of Intel’s. Not only this, the design has also gone through a significant overhaul, now with ultra-thin build and a range of color options such as green, silver, yellow, red, orange, blue, and purple. The brand claims to reduce the overall volume by 50% and the screen size of this iMac is 24” where the webcam can record up to 1080p. The new iMac will feature a magnetic connector and the base model will go at a retail price of ₹1,19,900. The high-end version will cost ₹139,900. The pre-order window will open on April 30.

iPad Pro with Desktop Processor

It was expected that Apple would introduce a new iPad lineup. The new iPad lineup will come in 11” and 12.9” screen sizes. The M1 chipset will come with an 8-core GPU. There will also be a Thunderbolt connector. The 12.9” will sport a mini-LED display.

The latest iPad Pro will be the debut tablet to sport a M1 processor. It is claimed to offer a performance bump of 1500x compared to the original one that was launched in 2010. The Thunderbolt port on the new iPad Pro will support a range of new accessories.

Coming to the optics, Apple is also offering an upgraded camera system where the front camera will be a 12MP ultra wide sensor. The new iPad will go all the way up to a 2TB storage option. The new tablets will come with full 5G support. There will be no change in the Apple pencil.

Talking about accessories, Apple has added a White color variant for its Magic Keyboard that will also come with TouchID. From the two screen variants, the base 11-inch will be available at a retail price of ₹71,990 whereas the elder sibling with 12.9” screen will be priced at ₹99,990. Pre-order window will open on April 30 with shipping expected to start late May.
