For quite a while now, there has been a lot of talking going on about this brand new technology that is in fact responsible for saving human lives. Well, that’s not all. The technology can also make you delicious pizzas, provided you are an astronaut. Now, all of this may sound a bit weird for few. “How can a printer make pizzas”, you would ask. Well, you got to blame it all on the modern-day technology.
Science plays a savior:
A six year old newborn was suffering from serious medical condition that regularly blocked the airways in one of its lungs, causing unconsciousness. A dedicated team of biomedical team of engineers worked on creating a flexible tube sized inline with the baby’s air passage. Making this possible was a combination of CT scan and a sophisticated 3-D printer. The baby received the implant in the early 2012 and is now living a normal life.
These pizzas would be meant for those traveling out of the world – the astronauts. But, why not an ordinary cheese capsicum pizza? Isn’t that enough? Well, if it’s a one day journey, that would probably work. But, if you plan to go to Mars, you got to take along something that can last for around 5 years.
So how do prepare an out-of-the-world pizza. A 3D printer does it for you. It follows simple digital recipes, uses powdered proteins, carbohydrates, oils and what you get in the end is a delicious pizza. Well, to be honest, it may not be as tasty as the one you order from your favorite pizza outlet, but one thing is for sure. Astronauts finally get to munch on a highly nutritious meal.
That’s not all. 3D printers can prepare you an entire meal with all the vitamins, aromas and flavors pumped in. Recently in the news was a young student who printed out a shotgun out of nothing but cheap plastic. So, a 3D printer surely plans to offer you a lot more than what you expect.
