Imagine a life without technology. You can’t, right? Technology has become such an integral part of our lives that it is impossible to picture our life without it. Right from how we shop to how we communicate, everything is now in accordance with the latest technology. Let us take this day of 3rd October, celebrated as ‘Techies Day’ to acknowledge the top ten innovators in the field of technology who revolutionised how we operate…

1. Tim Berners-Lee with his World Wide Web

I prostrate this guy. Without him the online world might have never existed. Well, he created the Internet! That’s all I have, and wish to say.

2. Bill Gates with his Windows

Once the world’s richest man, Gates is the superman of the tech world. His Windows OS runs millions of smartphones, computers, and tablets. If this is what a college dropout achieves in life, then well, education is not as important as people make it out to be!

3. Larry Page and Sergey Brin with their Google

Their creation’s popularity can be gauged by the fact that people now use “Googling” as a verb to refer to online searching. Their journey with Google started in a rented garage in 1998 when they created the company which is now pegged at multimillion dollars.

4. Steve Jobs with his Apple

Bless the man who made ‘apples’ famous. A true entrepreneur who made technology his business! It was his innovation and ability to take risks that has resulted in the hugely successful Cupertino based Apple Inc., a brand that has produced millions of premium iPhones, iPads, TVs, and computers.

5. Linus Torvalds with his Linux

One of the most popular OS in the tech world, Torvalds’ creation is what Android is based on. The open source software runs the ten fastest supercomputers in the world. A quiet man, Torvalds is not as media savvy as his counterparts.

6. Akio Morita with his Sony

If this former naval officer hadn’t left his family business, we would be reading his name on miso, sake, and soy sauce packets. Thankfully, Morita left all this which put him on the path to create Sony, the brand which gave us our first commercial pocket radios and Walkman.

7. Shigeru Miyamoto with his Nintendo Games

He is the man most parents blamed when their kids just wouldn’t leave their beloved Mario Bros. game. He is the man behind Zelda (the game you sillies!), and Wii Sports, the most epic and revered games of all times. The video game designer and producer is currently a ‘Creative Fellow’ at Nintendo, the company he helped rise from the ashes.

8. Mark Zuckerberg with his Facebook

Well, this young man is the reason most of us can’t complete our work on time! The world’s premier social networking site with millions of users was co-created by this TechWiz whilst at Harvard along with a few others. One of the youngest billionaires, Zuckerberg is known for his unconventional working style and connection with colleagues.

9. Evan Williams with his Twitter and Blogger

Although this guy doesn’t work at Twitter anymore, his creation is what keeps all of us updated of all the latest happenings in the world! The computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur has been known for his Midas touch, turning every venture he touches to a gold mine.

10. Jeffrey Bezos with his Amazon

He’s the man responsible for changing the way we shop. TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ in 1999, this Princeton graduate started the multimillion dollar Amazon.com from a small garage in Seattle. A true visionary, he perhaps foresaw the laziness of us shoppers and started with his e-commerce website. He may have started with selling only books in 1994, but a visit to his website will show you just how much the business has diversified into.
