Apple iPhone 6s Plus 16 GB Specifications
The iPhone 6s Plus 16GB hit the markets way back in September 2015. In spite of several new iPhone models available currently, the 6s Plus is a great handset even today. Though it isn’t the top dog in Apple’s impressive lineup, it’s still a remarkable choice, and Apple hasn’t phased it out yet.
What more, the iPhone 6s Plus is among the devices that are compatible with iOS 11, the latest software update from the tech giant. This makes this Smartphone a viable choice for those who are looking for an iPhone at pocket-friendly prices.
As the name suggests, the iPhone 6s Plus is an incremental upgrade to the iPhone 6 Plus released in September 2014.
Let’s take a closer look at the features, specifications, and highlights of this device.
Design and Build
The design of the iPhone 6s Plus is similar to the earlier 6 Plus. The only outward difference between these two devices is the small “S” logo on the back. The sleek, rounded chassis has a premium look and feel and made of robust “7000 Series Aluminium”.
The 6s Plus is thicker than its predecessor by 0.2mm and weighs 192g. The flat back and rounded edges make the 6s Plus a bit slippery. However, you can rectify this by adding a silicon case that not only makes it ergonomic but also protects it from accidental falls and drops.
The volume rocker and physical mute switch are on the left while the power button is on the right. The fingerprint sensor is below the display and also doubles up as the home button.
Display – With the Revolutionary 3D Touch
The iPhone 6s Plus 16GB comes with a massive 5.5” IPS screen with full-HD and 401 PPI. Vibrant colours, crisp text, and sharp images are some of the pros of the display. A toughened glass with an oleophobic coating (to prevent smudges and fingerprints) covers the screen.
One of the biggest highlights of the display is the 3D Touch, which radically alters the way you interact with your device. This is one major feature that distinguishes the 6s Plus from the 6 Plus. This means by applying different levels of pressure on the screen, you can trigger various actions. For instance, when you slight press, you can just peek into emails without opening them. Press harder to draft a reply or read the entire content. The 3D Touch is available for a wide variety of native Apple apps and other third-party apps.
CPU, RAM, and Storage
The iPhone 6s Plus runs on the A9 chipset, which offers 70% faster performance when compared to the A8 processor on the 6 Plus, and has a whopping 90% faster GPU performance. Coupled with the 2GB RAM, this ensures that your device handles all the regular tasks seamlessly and there are no noticeable delays or lags. Opening and switching between apps are lightning quick, and the device handles even graphics-intense games at a fraction of the time.
The internal storage space available on this variant is 16GB. You can easily backup your files, photos and other media to the iCloud, thereby increasing the available storage space.
Camera Performance & Battery Life
Just like all other Apple devices, the performance of the iPhone 6s Plus camera is stellar and a significant improvement over the 6 Plus. The FaceTime camera has a 5MP sensor compared to the 1.2MP sensor on its predecessor. The inbuilt flash, named as the Retina Flash lights up the screen 3X brighter, helping you click picture-perfect selfies.
The Rear iSight camera features a 12MP sensor (it was 8MP in the iPhone 6 Plus). One of the new features of this device is the Live Photos, which click images that have 1.5-second videos on the front and back. They appear as still images, but when you click on them, you can watch the motion. The iSight camera can also record 4K videos. Panorama shots and time-lapse videos are other features of the camera.
The iPhone 6s Plus sports a 2750 mAh Li-ion, non-removable battery, which easily lasts for a whole work day.
Pros: Why you should get the iPhone 6s Plus in 2017?
• The 3D Touch is a smart feature that offers a great user experience.
• Stellar performance without any delay or lags.
• The camera quality is excellent, thanks to OIS and other features.
• Accurate and fast Touch ID helps you unlock your device in a jiffy.
• One of the most affordable iPhones in the market today.
Cons: Why it isn’t the best choice?
• The big size makes it difficult to use one-handed.
• Live Photos don’t work that well with fast-moving subjects.
• The internal storage space of 16GB feels a bit restrictive.
• The two-year-old design feels a bit outdated today.
• In a time of bezel-less displays, the large top and bottom bezels feel out of place.
